What if you could explore & participate in Educational PD in a “Whole New World”?

 

On-site learning:

Five days on site at Walt Disney World at four Theme Parks.  Behind the scenes tours on how the magic is created, themeing the attractions, backstories and storytelling. Experience real world application and experiences to use in your classroom.  The “PD Magic” course allows you to combines theory and experiential assignments to introduce you to the history, concepts, design, innovation, storytelling, engineering and entrepreneurial process of creativity and Imagineering of Walt Disney World.

 

The overall goal of this course is to provide participants with instructional methods, concepts, strategies and activities that they will be able to immediately apply to their classroom and schools.  Collaboration, curiosity, critical and design thinking, are skills that our students need to master.  This course will help participants do both, through the same lens that made Walt Disney and the Disney Company so successful and innovative.

            Have you ever thought about creating a classroom that provides an environment that provides your students the opportunity to dream, create, explore, design, learn and wonder?

Digital Journey in Partnership with Dr. Howie DiBlasi, Disney Imagineer, Brian Colling and classroom teacher Ryan Boeckman, is offering PD Magic: Edmagineering The Future of Professional Learning

In this three (3) CEU credit course, we explore how Walt Disney embodied these traits and how he inspired others around him to help build his Magic Kingdom. We will then take these ideas of creativity, storytelling, leadership, innovation and guest service and apply them to creating classroom magic and even the bigger picture of crafting the schools of tomorrow. The culminating project will be a 6 day tour, of the 4 Disney parks at Walt Disney World.

 

The Optional ONLINE course will consist of video lectures, interactive activities, research investigations, media/literacy projects, teamwork and collaboration between classmates and instructors.  Each activity will help lead participants to a final project and wrap up project at Walt Disney World that will complete this course’s requirements.  This On-Line  portion is designed with the active teacher in mind.  It is go at your own pace and the four sessions allow you 10 weeks to complete the assignments.

 

The overall goal of this 6 day experience is to provide participants with instructional methods, concepts, strategies and activities that they will be able to apply to their classroom and schools immediately.  Collaboration, curiosity, critical / design thinking, and storytelling are all important 21st century skills that not only do our students need to master but we as educators can continue to improve upon also.  This course will help participants do both and all through the same lens that made Walt Disney and the Disney Company so successful and innovative.

Outcomes:

The PD Magic Class at Walt Disney World will provide strategic digital teaching tools and connect  educators with enhanced experiences that will provide real-world learning opportunities that will support  them on the path to success in their classrooms.

The Edmagineers, Howie DiBlasi, Brian Collins and Ryan Bocekman bring ove 50 years of combined classroom experiences to the onsite lessons at Walt Disney World.  In addition to their Disney Edmagineering experiences that is based on combining  imagination with engineering and build on the legacy of Walt Disney to create immersive entertainment experiences.  We will bring STEM, PBL, art and technology together to turn fantasy into reality and dreams into magic.

 We will assist educators to develop the professional skills and technology competencies that equip them for success in their classrooms.  Collaboration with other educators will support  innovative educational practices to become  “Digital Ready”, as they learn from Disney Authors, Disney Imagineers, Disney Historians and Cast Members.

Participants will build digital resources into their lesson plans, use new media tools to engage their students in deeper learning and work with the Edmagineers as the participants learn how to apply knowledge of digital technology.

Participating educators will develop essential digital literacies and skills, engage in high-quality learning and enhance their skills in the area of communication, collaboration, creativity, curiosity, critical thinking and Digital Citizenship.
